Journey to Baby | Showered with Love – Our Baby Showers

Lifestyle

They say your heart grows exponentially when you have a child. So far, having not met ours yet, I can say this is so true. I would also argue that the hearts of your village grow even more. We are so blessed to be surrounded by amazingly loving friends and family. So much so, that they hosted two baby showers for us last month!!

First up, our family shower. Navy, pink, mint, gold, stripes and floral. Sounds perfect to me and it was! My mom and sister threw a beautiful baby shower last month for us and it was so much fun! They did a wonderful job with all of the details, games, decor and home cooked food. I was blown away!

The guest list was intimate and it was so wonderful that my best friend and mother in law were able to come down for the celebration. I am overjoyed and humbled by the support system our family and friends have created for us and the outpouring of love this little one has already magnified. I thought we had it made before, but this is a whole new level and I’m not complaining.

I have to say, aside from my love of the food and decor (I am a wedding planner, after all), it was the company and joy that sealed the deal for me. We laughed a lot, listened to some fun and nostalgic music (part of a game) and had a lot of girl talk. It was truly such a wonderful afternoon. I am still in awe of the detail and thought that went into the planning and each gift!

A week later, my darling colleagues hosted a couple’s shower with everyone and it was a blast! So much laughter filled the house and echoed around every corner. There was a killer salad bar, macaroons, homemade watermelon juice, mimosas (not for me, of course) and a plethora of precious Peter Rabbit decor. Oh, and I had a lot of different baby food for the first time. Let’s just say that I apparently have way too much sugar in my diet, because some of them were a bit less than ideal tasting! Hopefully munchkin will think differently when we get to that stage.

Having our spouses in attendance was also a fun way to gather. So often, baby showers are thought of as ‘for the women’, but we had a blast. Hearing other couple’s and men’s perspectives on parenting and their experiences was so enlightening. I’m sure Adam enjoyed that perspective, too. If you ever have the opportunity to have a couple’s baby shower, I highly recommend it.

All I can say is, if this is the pre-party, I cannot wait for what is in store the next year and beyond. Sweet Baby Pocho, our Pocholito, you are one lucky and blessed little human. I hope you know that no matter what comes your way, you have a tribe of people that love you fiercely and cannot wait to shepherd your precious little heart and life into whatever amazing things the Lord has in store.

To everyone who has been praying, supporting and celebrating this season with us, thank you! It means more than you know and we are so excited to share this journey and life with you!

xoxo, Jenn
