Happy Monday, Lovelies! I hope that you had a fabulous weekend and were able to enjoy some of the warmer weather we had. Today we are going to talk about one of my favorite topics- wedding style!
You hear people mention it all the time and you will likely have people ask you often. What exactly is a wedding style? Isn’t your color palette enough? Well darlings, wedding style is a reflection of your personal style, story and personalities. Fun, right?!
Before you get stressed out that a quiz response did not hit the nail on the head for what you envision, let me tell you something. You do not need to feel like you fit into a category style. You are allowed, and encouraged, to be unique and make up your own wedding style. Yep, I said it- DARE TO BE DIFFERENT!! No other couple in the world has the same story as the two of you, so why would your style be any exception? You are a one of a kind combination of awesome love that is embarking on a brand new, never been told adventure and your style should celebrate that!
If you are struggling to find a starting point, see my tips for creative style inspiration over here (minus step 5). The principles are the same. That brings me to another great tip. Don’t focus only on wedding images for style. Inspiration comes in all shapes, mediums and places. Make an effort to keep an open mind in your daily life. Something will pop up.
Today’s most common inspiration epicenter is, of course, Pinterest. Start a board and don’t forget to put things that you like aside from weddings on it. Then, look at it with your eyes squinted and see if there are overarching colors or themes of what you like that stick out. This is what I do anytime a client sends me their board. We have to get very editorial and really zero in on what common threads there are. I guarantee you will see them too.
One of my favorite style exercises is to spend an evening together writing your love story and reminiscing to find a few elements that will really impart your story and journey to your guests. Use those elements as the basis for your style. Guess what else? You can make up a name for your style and confidently splash it everywhere! Ever heard of those fun little hashtag things that people string together? Some of them are clever, long, short, whimsical- make a name up! The possibilities are endless, so have fun with it!
What is your wedding style? I really would love to hear what you come up with!
