Sweet Beginnings | 5 Wedding Morning Tips

For Brides, Sweet Beginnings

In the midst of all of the planning, details, deciding the right shade of napkins and your first dance song, you probably haven’t given too much thought to the morning of your wedding. The hours that you are getting ready, just before you see the love of your life.

When so much focus is put on the day ahead, those sweet morning hours as you prepare for the wonderful celebration and sweet marriage you are about to enter into are likely the last thing on your mind. Yet, they can set and influence the tone of the day and are such a wonderful opportunity for fellowship with your gals. Have no fear, lovely, I have five tips for your wedding morning that will put you at ease and start the celebration off right!

Ample Light & Space: Make sure that the room you are getting ready in has good light and plenty of space. While you get your hair and makeup done, you want to be sure you also are able to be surrounded by your mom and bridesmaids. Having room to move around and natural light are also wonderful for your photographer!

Pamper yourself: This one isn’t as glamorous as it sounds, but important, nonetheless. Make sure you have a robe or something to wear that is comfortable and makes you feel beautiful as you get ready. Today is the day you want to feel your best and you would be amazed at what a pretty robe can do for you. Some of my favorites include Plum Pretty Sugar, BHLDN, and a sweet PJ set from Anthro. Whatever you choose, make sure it’s a button up or will easily come off without smudging your hair or make up.

Eat, Drink, Repeat: Indulge in a fabulous breakfast and coffee! You will be on the go all day and need fuel. Whether you prefer coffee, tea, water or something else you need to stay hydrated and energetic. So many of my brides forget to eat or drink anything all day, until their cocktail hour. Even if it’s a protein bar and some berries, it is so important to remember to eat and drink on your wedding morning (and afternoon!).

Have a Dance Party! You know I’m a lover of the fun dance party. What better way to enjoy the day than starting it off with a dance party?! Put together a playlist of whatever makes you tap your feet and sing at the top of your lungs. Then get to dancing it out, coffee (or mimosa) in hand!

Turn off your cell phone & be present: I know, whomp, whomp. Truly, love. Designate someone to be in charge of your phone or just turn it off. You will be surrounded by plenty of people with phones, should it be an emergency. Otherwise, be in the moment. Phones are such a distraction and trust me, your wedding day will fly by fast enough without having your nose in your phone all day. Be there fully to remember your grandmother dancing to Usher and your mom singing to your favorite Whitney Houston ballad (for nostalgia sake, of course)! To put your whole heart into reminiscing and hearing your best friends and sisters recount stories of your awkward pre-teen years and the moment they saw you change as you grew into your relationship with your soon to be Mr. Those are moments that no phone will ever capture and that you’ll treasure for years to come.

xoxo, Jenn
