A love for great music, the outdoors, puppies, family and a mutual respect for each other are just a few things I adore about Laura and Kyle. These two are fun-loving, creative, active and adventurous. I have been so honored to witness their relationship from the beginning and can honestly say that they bring out the best in each other. At the risk of rambling and blubbering, I’ll let you read their love story in their words. Also, enjoy the beautiful images from their sunrise engagement session with Justin Salem Meyer!!

How did you meet?

We met through mutual friends on May 28th, 2010

When did you know he would be your husband?

The day we went hiking together in Sioux Falls, SD. After that day I just knew he was the person I was meant to spend my life with. It’s still one of my favorite days with him.

When did you know she would be your wife?

One night when we were talking about the future and what we both wanted in life. We both want the same things and that’s when I knew she was going to be my best friend for the rest of my life.

What is your engagement story?

Kyle set up a quiz on his laptop, I had to complete it and it unlocked hints for me to find a gift. The gift was a dress. Kyle told me to get ready and meet him in downtown Des Moines. When I got there we went to a barcade and played some games, then went to dinner, then went and got ice cream and walked around a pond. Then, Kyle took me out to a park in the country to look at the stars and he proposed while we were out there.

What excites you about marriage?

Knowing we get to spend each day with our best friend. We always have someone to depend on and someone to challenge us to grow as a person – and together as a couple. Always having someone to go on a new adventure with.

What is your favorite source of wedding inspiration? 

Pinterest!

What is your favorite part about wedding planning? Least?

Kyle’s favorite thing has been cake tasting. I have loved seeing my visions come to life and wedding dress shopping. Our lease favorite has been trying to make all loved ones feel involved.

What are you most looking forward to about your wedding day?

Marrying my best friend and just getting to celebrate and enjoy all the hard work we’ve put in with friends and family.

Are you taking a honeymoon? If so, where and why did you choose that destination?

Yes! We are going to the pacific Northwest! Both of us are really drawn to that area and it just made sense. We wanted to go somewhere we would be able to explore – and that’s exactly what we plan to do. We will be kayaking and rock climbing in Oregon, and zip lining in Washington. Plus hiking in both states, and exploring Portland and Seattle.

Do you have any advise for engaged couples?

Elope? But really, just make sure you focus on each other and what the day is all about throughout the entire process. It’s very easy to get stressed out and get caught up on things, and get grumpy with each other. Remembering why you are putting yourself through all the stress makes it much easier – and totally worth it!

What is next for the two of you after “I Do”?

Our honeymoon!!! Then hopefully just settling into the married life and getting our weekends and weeknights back. …Until we start house-hunting.

In just under one month, they will be husband and wife. The past year has flown by as we’ve planned, designed, spent hours on Skype and the phone and celebrated all of the milestones along the way. LB and Kyle, we are so excited to celebrate your love in October!!
