Weekend Recap: USA!

Lifestyle

Mondays after a long weekend are always tough and seem to take longer to get back into routine.  I don’t know about you, but despite the additional to-do’s, I love looking back at the wonderful and fun memories made.

In the go-go-go world we live in, it is so important for us to take time to be present and rest. In the past, I have been guilty of not allowing myself to do so. This year, one of my goals is to avoid burn out and since I have started forcing myself to unplug and plan work around taking at least one day off each week, I have seen an improvement in my attitude, work and energy. It is not easy, but later this month I will share how I schedule my weeks to allow that.

This weekend, as we celebrated this beautiful country, we laughed so hard, watched beautiful fireworks, spent time with family we see far too rarely and took time to recharge.

On Friday, we made the drive to Des Moines to see family for the day. Then on Saturday, we gathered for a family barbecue back home and enjoyed many yard games, laughs and seeing cousins! There is never a dull moment or an hour that passes without hilarious happenings.

Yesterday was slow and full of riveting conversation. To round everything out, we donned our Red, White and Blue again to cheer on the USA Women in the World Cup final. Guess what, we WON!!! With this start to July, it is sure to be a fantastic month!

I hope you all had a restful, fun and beautiful holiday weekend! As for that Monday to-do list, we’ve got this, friends!

xoxo, Jenn
